Launching
of Andaman Tourism Website: http://tourism.andaman.nic.in
The official website of
Tourism Department was formally inaugurated by the Chief Secretary, A &
N Administration, Dr. R.Padmanabhan on the eve of World Tourism Day on 26nd
September 2002 at Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, Port
Blair. The website http://tourism.andaman.nic.in
is hosted by NIC UT Unit, Port Blair.
Shri. Arun Goyal, IAS,
Commissioner–cum-Secretary Tourism gave a brief presentation highlighting
the objectives, contents of the website. The Chief Secretary described the
website as another step towards promoting the islands in the global arena.
This website contains the details of tourist spots of the Islands,
accommodation available, including other tourist facilities any tourist can
have a first hand glimpse of Andaman and decide one’s itinerary sitting in
the coziness of his home.
The
website can also be accessed at http://tourism.and.nic.in.
Implementation
of Software
The Chief
Secretary, A & N Administration, Dr. R.Padmanabhan also launched a
computerized advance booking of accommodation in Govt. Guest Houses of the
Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism, Port Blair. With this
facility, the tourist will now get quick service and the department will
benefit through quick access of data.
In addition the Chief Secretary also commenced the computerized Check
in, check out and billing of Andaman Teal House (A Govt. Guest House). This
facility will be extended to other Guest Houses in near future including
Dolphin Resort at Havelock.

The
official website of Department of Environment and Forest was formally
inaugurated by the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Dr.
R.Padmanabhan on the occasion of Wild Life Week on 08th October
2002. The website http://forest.and.nic.in
is hosted by NIC UT Unit, Port Blair.
This website developed in
collaboration with the Forest Department which contains information on
unique bio-diversity of these islands and various developmental and
conservation schemes of the department. This can be visited on the Internet
at http://forest.and.nic.in
Special Award for the Best Web Site
http://tourism.andaman.nic.in has been given Special Award for the best Web Sites. The trophy was given by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab, Shri Harminder Singh at Sixth E-governence Conference on 24th Oct. 2002 at Chandigarh.
Launching of CARI Website
Official website of Central Agriculture Research Institute, A & N Islands, Port Blair has been launched by Dr. R.B.Rai, Director, CARI. The site is designed and developed the Computer Cell, CARI and hosted by NIC, A & N UT Unit Port Blair. The address of the website is http://cari.and.nic.in
Computerisation of Birth & Death Certificates
Directorate of Health Services, A&N Admn has implemented the computerised issue of Birth & Death Certificates from 2nd Dec 2002 onwards.In a simple function held in the Directorate, the Secretary (Health) Mr Hemachandran IAS has inaugurated the facility and issued the certificates to the public.The software rec’d from Ministry GOI, Delhi was implemented in the Directorate with the help of NIC Port Blair Centre.
This facility will be extended to other 93 centres across the islands in a phased manner by the Directorate.
Lt. Governor's Commendation Certificate for NIC Staff
Mr. Gautam Gupta, Systems Analyst has been awarded the Lt. Governor's Commendation Certificate on 26th January, 2003 in recognition of his excellence standard of professional efficiency, devotion to duty and outstanding sense of responsibility.
DC launches Certificate Information System of Tehsildar Office, Port Blair.
The Deputy Commissioner, Andaman District, Dr. V. Candavelou today launched the issue of computerised certificates at the Tehsildar Office, Port Blair. With this facility, the various certificates given below :-
Senior citizen
Legal Heirs
Annual income
Land Valuation
Encumbrance Certificate
Electric/Water Connection
Electric Connection for Encroachers
Birth/Death Registration
can be issued to the public everyday.
This facility will be extended to other Tehsil offices of Andaman & Nicobar Districts within 3 months time.
The State Informatics Officer, National Informatics Centre, Shri M.Manivannan, explained in details, the advantages of using the software. The Tehsildar, Port Blair, Shri G.Ganapathy issued computerised certificates to the public.
The software has been developed by National Informatics Centre, Andaman District, Port Blair.
Launching of Dir. Of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Website: http://csca.and.nic.in
The
official website of Dir. Of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department was
formally inaugurated by the Secretary(CS&CA), A & N
Administration, Shri R P Pal on 8th March 2004 at National Informatics Centre,
Port Blair. The website http://csca.and.nic.in is hosted by NIC UT Unit,
Port Blair.
Shri.
M Manivannan ,SIO ,NIC gave a brief presentation highlighting the objectives,
contents of the website and also stated that this is the first website designed
bilingually in Hindi & English.
The Secretary described the website as another step towards promoting e-governance in the islands. This website contains the details of Ration Card Holders, including other activities of the Dir. Of Civil Supplies.
