Police Video Conferencing Between Port Blair & Diglipur Introduced

   

    The A&N Police Department has introduced Video Conferencing between Port Blair and Diglipur making it easy for the people of far-flung areas in redressal of their grievances without spending money and time in traveling to Port Blair.  The much needed facility was inaugurated by the Chief Secretary, Shri. Pradeep Singh at a function held at the Police Headquarters here on 14/11/2003.

    The Chief Secretary while inaugurating the Video Conferencing, interacted with Shri. Sushil Mondal, Pramukh, Panchayat Samity and Shri. Gurupado Biswas, Member, Zilla Parishad.  Both the PRI members thanked the Administration for providing this facility by connecting the isolated island through video conferencing for the redressal of the grievances of general public. Shri. Pradeep Singh suggested for installing such facility by the Panchayati Raj institutions in these islands.  The matter of interaction to be held on Video Conferencing should be faxed beforehand, for easy comprehension of the issue, the Chief Secretary added.

    The Member of Parliament, Shri.Bishnu Pada Ray also graced the function and interacted with the PRI members.  Shri. Ray also stressed upon the use of Video Conferencing system by Panchayati Raj Institution Members by connecting all the Panchayat  Samity  offices with Zilla Parishad Headquarters.  The PRI members are jubilant over the starting of the Video Conferencing facility.

    Welcoming the chief guest and others present on the occasion, the Inspector General of Police, Shri. Alok Kumar Verma highlighted the benefits accruing from the establishment of this facility through Wide Area Network (WAN) established between office of the IGP, SP Andaman District and Police Station, Diglipur.  The IGP will hear the complaints and grievances thrice a week from 12.00 Noon to 12.30 PM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while the complainants can contact SP, Andaman on all working days from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

    While interacting with the IGP in the inaugural function, the Pradhan, Keralapuram Gram Panchayat, Shri Madhusudan Nair urged the IGP for constructing a new Police Station building at Diglipur in place of existing old building.

    The Department has requested the BSNL to spread its network of Optical Fibre Cable to other important places like Rangat, Mayabunder and Campbell Bay and it is proposed to establish Video Conferencing to all these places including Car Nicobar where ISDN facility is presently available.
