Computerized Family Identity Cards Launched

  Quick Distribution  Of PDS Items Promised.

    Promising quick delivery of PDS item to the consumers and also to detect the bogus cards, the Civil Supplies Department here today launched the Computerized Family Identity Cards (FICs). At a brief but well organized function at the Department conference hall, the Secretary Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Shri R.P. Pal handed over the computerized FICs to some consumers present on the occasion.

    Addressing the gathering, the Secretary said, the computerization of FIC will make the PDS distribution system more transparent. He said the software developed by the NIC for the Civil Supplies Department will also facilitates single window operation for all FIC related activities, detection of bogus cards, easy and fast method of addition, deletion and issuance of surrender certificates.

    Terming the FICs, as a domestic passport, the Secretary said through this FICs the consumers are being provided with many other facilities. He said efforts are also on to make the FICs more comprehensive which, he felt, will act as a basic document at family level. The Secretary said that the Department should make effort to provide the FICs to the eligible consumers without any problems at their respective areas.

    The Nodal Officer Civil Supplies, Shri Mohd. Ayub and Shri Rajiv Lal of NIC through a slide presentation highlighted the facilities being provided to consumers through computerization.

    Welcoming the chief guest and others present on the occasion, the Director CS & CA Shri Amar Das informed that the department is moving towards governance. The Department will launch its website within 3 months time from now which will cover all the card related data for wider accessibility. The function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Assistant Director, Shri C. Abdu.
