His Excellency, the President of India arriving on visit to islands

 

His Excellency, the President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, will pay a visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from 05th to 07th May, 2005. On arrival at Port Blair by an IAF aircraft in the afternoon, he will be presented guard of honour at the airport. The President will address the students and interact with them at the JNRM Auditorium. The President is scheduled to visit orphanage and interact with the children staying there. Thereafter he will visit the National Memorial Cellular Jail, place floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Column and witness the Sound and Light Show. The President will also visit the Andaman and Nicobar Command.

 

On 06th May, 2005, the President is scheduled to visit Car Nicobar where he will visit Perka and Chuckchucha villages, inaugurate Vidya Vahini Portal, interact with the Tribal Council leaders, meet students/children and witness cultural programme presented in his honour. Other islands which the President is scheduled to visit include Teressa, Chowra, Katchal and Kamorta where he will meet tribal leaders, students and children. On his return from Nicobars, Dr. Kalam will address Sainik Sammelan in Port Blair. He will also visit Haddo wharf.

 

Dr. Kalam is scheduled to visit Campbell Bay on 07th May, 2005 and meet PRI members, tribal leaders and public representatives and interact with children/students and visit airbase at Car Nicobar.

 

On completion of visit the President is scheduled to leave for mainland from Car Nicobar in the afternoon. 

Media centre at IP&T

 

A media centre has been set up at the conference hall of the Directorate of IP&T, Port Blair to facilitate press and media persons during the visit of His Excellency, the President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam from 5th to 7th May, 2005. 

Payment of Service Tax

 

It is for information of all Service Tax Assesses that Service Tax Rules, 1994 has been amended to make provision that Companies paying monthly Service Tax by 25th day of the next month are now required to pay service tax for services rendered during any month by 5th day of the next month.

 

Individuals i.e. Proprietorship and Partnership firms paying quarterly Service Tax by the 25th of the next month are now required to pay service tax for services rendered during the quarter by 5th day of the next month.

 

Training in repairing, maintenance of Bio-medical equipment

 

ITCOT Consultancy and Services Ltd., a premier technical consultancy organization based at Chennai proposes to organise a two-week skill training programme in repairing and maintenance of bio-medical equipment in association with Directorate of Industries, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Port Blair. The training will cover basic bio-medical equipment such as Centrifuge, Autoclave, Incubators, Oven, Calorimeter, ECG etc. The training offers excellent self-employment opportunity for Diploma/ITI holders in view of shortage of skilled personnel in the field. Interested candidates may register their bio-data with the Directorate of Industries for the proposed training programme. 

Training in trades

 

The Directorate of Industries, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Port Blair will be organizing short-term livelihood training in the trade fashion designing, computer application and house hold wiring in association with NGOs CARE- India and ICCW. The training will be arranged in the Entrepreneurship Development Institute Building at Middle Point, Port Blair. Interested educated unemployed youth/tsunami victims may apply in the prescribed application form to the Director of Industries on or before 10th May, 2005. Application form and further details about the training programme can be had from the Directorate of Industries, Middle Point on any working day.
