Vocational training for women
With a view to rehabilitating the tsunami affected persons and to introduce possible and appropriate alternative incoming generating activities for them, the Directorate of Industries in association with the Indian Council of Child Welfare (ICCW), an NGO, started a three-month short-term vocational training programme, especially designed for women in ‘Fashion Designing and Computer Application’ at the Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Middle Point, Port Blair from today.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Smt. Pritam Kumari Nanda, Chairperson, A & N State Social Welfare Board, stressed on empowerment of women in the society.
Shri Abdul Haneef, Assistant Director, highlighted the objective of the training programme.
Initially, 10 trainees each have been enrolled in Fashion Designing and Computer Application for imparting training.
The programme has been jointly organised by Industries Department and ICCW, New Delhi.
