Lt GOVERNOR HANDS OVER PERMANENT HOUSES TO TSUNAMI VICTIMS AT
LITTLE ANDAMAN
Addressing the gathering, the Lt. Governor asked the beneficiaries for
proper maintenance and upkeep of the permanent shelter complex. In this
context, he suggested them to constitute a team to look look into the
maintenance part and other related affairs pertaining to permanent shelter
complex. He told the beneficiaries that any shortcomings in the shelters
can be brought into his notice and directed the concerned authorities for
attending to the problems of the beneficiaries on priority. He wanted that
the people living in the permanent shelters to become self-reliant .
Underlining the need for strengthening Fisheries, Animal Husbandry,
Agriculture and tourism sectors, he said these sectors have tremendous
growth potential and developed in the right earnest and can solve the
livelihood problem of the people to a great extend besides generating
employment. He also informed that the administration is taking up every
necessary step of the improvement of the health care facilities in the
islands. Latter , the Lt. Governor met the PRI members and the general
public at the APWD guest house and discussed with them local projects for
the provision of better amenities in these islands . The Lt. Governor gave
on the spot directions to all concern authorities to attend the public grievances
on priority. He directed the Deputy Commissioner (SA) to submit a
detail report on the representations and issues highlited by the people of
the area.
