64th Independence Day Celebration - 2010 |
||
Greetings I extend my heartiest greetings to the people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands on the 63rd Anniversary of our glorious Independence. Independence Day is an occasion of great significance in every Indian's life and we celebrate this day to honour our country, its people and the rich culture and heritage. This is a solemn occasion when we remember the heroes of our freedom struggle for their valiant and relentless struggle and sacrifice. The path of peace and non-violence which the people of this country pursued was unique in the annals of history. It is this path of peace and non-violence which forms the bedrock of the modern, democratic, progressive and secular India of today. Andaman & Nicobar Islands occupy a special place in the history of our freedom struggle since the first batch of Indian freedom fighters was brought to these shores in 1858. On this occasion, we must pledge together that the sacrifice of these brave sons and daughters of India will not go in vain. We must resolve to make our country a peaceful, prosperous and harmonious nation of which we can all be proud.
