National AIDS Control Programme 

As part of AIDS Control Programme, the major blood bank at the GB Pant Hospital has been modernized equipment like Elisa Reader supplied under the assistance of NACO. One District level Blood Bank at Civil Hospital Car Nicobar has already been established in the year 2000 with the help of NACO. As per approved protocol, Sentinel Surveillance has been carried out at Antenatal and STD Clinics set up at the CHC, Rangat and the Civil Hospital, Car Nicobar and at the GB Pant Hospital, Port Blair.

The Society is extending periodical training to the doctors and para-medical workers located at various islands on the prevention and control of HIV-AlDS, Syndromic Management of STDs, Health Awareness Campaign and also conducting voluntary blood donation camps, AIDS prevention education in schools. Nine voluntary testing and counseling centers are established throughout the islands to provide voluntary HIV testing and counseling to HIV, AIDS cases throughout the islands.
