OBJECTIVE 

·        Serving the fishermen, fish farmers and public as a whole for development of fisheries.

·        Create employment avenues, increase fish production and to uplift the socio-economic condition of the fisher folk.

·        Accountability and transparency in public service.

·        Redressal of public grievances/ complaints within least possible delay.

·        To uphold secrecy of personal information, disclosed to the Department.

·        To review the suggestions received from fishermen and general public for improvement of working status of Department towards fishermen, fish farmers, entrepreneurs and public as a whole.

 

MISSION

·        Increase fish production.

·        Create basic infrastructure like ice plant ands cold storage, fish ,market, landing centre etc. for the development of fisheries.

·        Effective enforcement of Rules/Regulation for sustainable development.

·        Create adequate employment opportunities.

·        To generate revenue from the sector.

·        Provide technical know-how/guidance to the interested fishermen, fish farmers and entrepreneurs.

·        To organise training for the official of the Department to improve their technical proficiency.

·        To organise training and extension programme for development of technically trained manpower for various fisheries based activities.

 

SERVICES

·        Creation of basic infrastructure like ice plant and  cold storage at various place.

·        Construction of landing facilities and fish market at various places.

·        Providing of subsidy to fishermen/ Tribal Coop. Societies for purchase of deep freezer/ fish transport vehicle/ tricycle.

·        Supply of Essential Fishery Requisite to licenced fishermen on 50% subsidy.

·        Supply of fishing material on 100% subsidy to primitive tribe.

·        Subsidy (50%) for construction of Mechanised boats to fishermen/ tribes, their coop. societies and entrepreneurs. Subsidy for purchase of Navigational Aids.

·        Financial assistance to fish farmers for renovation of ponds for fresh water fish culture.

·        Issue of licence for fishing in A & N Water.

·        Supply of fresh water fish seed to Pisciculturist.

·        Issue of shell fishing licence for collection of sea-shell by registered shell craft units.

·        Issue of permit for transportation of fish/fishery products outside A & N Islands.

·        Grant of permission of Culture, Capture and other allied activities in A & N Islands.

·        Providing of subsidy for purchase of inboard/outboard engine by traditional fishermen under Centrally Sponsored Scheme.

·        Insurance coverage for all licences fishermen under Centrally Sponsored Group Accident Insurance Scheme.

·        Provide assistance under Saving-cum-Relief Scheme to the marine fishermen during non fishing months.

·        Search and Rescue operation for missing fishermen at sea with the assistance of Navy, Coast Guard and Police.

·        Provide relief through Administration for the loss of crafts and gear due to natural calamity.

·        Provide storage facility and Ice at nominal rates.

·        Development of model fishermen village for the homeless fishermen under centrally sponsored scheme.

·        Organise training and extension programme for the benefit of fishermen/ fish farmers/ private entrepreneurs.

·        Sponsoring of progressive fish farmers/ fishermen for study tour to mainland.
