NEWS ITEM The objective of ANDAMAN & NICOBAR AIDS CONTROL SOCIETY is towards widen mainstreaming activities in work place, Govt. Sector organisation, and also with private Stake Holders to develop their own workplace HIV/AIDS policy and sustain the program in their work setting. ANACS is supported to develop their own workplace HIV/AIDS policy and engage them in mobilizing their workers for HIV/AIDS prevention activities. In this process, A & N AIDS Control Society Conducted a Programme on Mainstreaming HIV/ AIDS-STD with the workers of CHATHAM SAW MILL (08.01.2010). Altogether 150 workers participated in these programme to gain the knowledge on HIV/AIDS-STD and learned how to prevent and save there life from this epidemic. The programme is facilitated by Shri. GIRISH KUMAR, CONSULTANT (CSM), he said “HIV/AIDS can pose a serious threat to corporate performance through loss of skilled labour and lowered productivity due to increased absenteeism, disruption of operations and increased expenditures on employee treatment, replacement and associated costs. Developing HIV/AIDS related workplace policies and interventions should be an ongoing human resource strategy that protects business interests and fulfils better management practices.” He also spoke on the General precautions on HIV/AIDS and condom motivational.
